THE FUTURE IS NOW...

The future is powered by the sun. Health care is delivered efficiently by practitioners who care. Schools are adequately funded and locally controlled. Due process is afforded everyone. Living wages are paid for meaningful work. Art & music return to our schools. And Greg Walden is defeated!

NO MORE WAR!

This election is about nothing, if not the future.

The retreat into a nationalistic, militarized footing is not going to make us strong.

As precious resources are diverted from health care, education and infrastructure to support the military, we creep closer to the unthinkable. Nuclear War.

The Military Industrial Complex is not some sort of conspiracy theory. It is a fact.

The best defense our nation can muster is investment in Health Care, Education & Infrastructure. No Foreign Army will ever occupy our soil. That threat is in the
past and no longer part of the calculus.

We must look to the future. Our National Identity has changed from
Northern European and White, to one that accurately reflects the entire world.
We are the world. I am proud of my Irish American roots and I welcome all to the
future that honors all of our backgrounds.

The trillions of dollars spent on the military will be better utilized in rebuilding our
own country.

If our roads and bridges are crumbling, if 1 in 5 Americans experience mental health
issues, if 1 in 10 have no health insurance and if our schools struggle to prepare our
children; what are we defending?

The future is in renewable energy and we are blessed with wind and solar galore. The design, installation and maintenance of solar arrays and wind turbines are the family wage jobs of the future.

MEDICARE FOR ALL

The future is in a single payer health care delivery system that puts people before insurance and pharmaceutical corporations. Every single issue: veteran’s care, elder care, prenatal care and drug treatment can be integrated into a system that works for people not profit.

WISE USE OF FEDERAL LANDS

We are blessed with incredible natural resources and they belong to all of us.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE THE HEART OF OUR RURAL COMMUNITIES

Our children deserve every resource available to grow and thrive.

MY STORY...

I am a 65 year old grandfather who goes to work everyday as a union stonemason to build lasting works of beauty; support my family and contribute to the quality of life we all share in Oregon’s Mighty District 2.

I Grew up in The Dalles and have lived in Parkdale for 36 years.

Been happily married for nearly 40 years to the girl I met on the docks in Newport when I was fishing a dory. We have two beautiful daughters, one granddaughter and a second on the way.

Attended Portland State and Colorado Mountain College; but I consider my college education to be the 4 years I spent working for Kortge Wheat & Cattle in Wasco County.

I sail in the Columbia River Gorge, climb mountains, play in a band, and grow vegetables.

Working and raising a family in District 2 may not seem to be the most essential qualifications for a candidate to have but that’s what I have.

50 years experience in the work force, as a volunteer and in leadership roles in the community.

I can promise that no other candidate has planted trees, fought forest fires, picked fruit, quarried stone on land ceded back to the First Peoples or taught a 1000 people to ski.

I do hope that every candidate has found a way to support abused and neglected children in a program such as CASA where I represented the interests of foster kids in court for over ten years.

I've spent a dozen years coaching young athletes from every background in soccer, basketball and ski racing. The real world of District 2 families revolves around the kids. Hopes, dreams and sacrifices daily play out on the pitch, in the gym and on the slopes, and I have shared in all of it.

I have worked and volunteered in our public schools, teaching first graders to read and checking for head lice. Snowboarded and skied with Special Olympic Kids. Tackled problems like lead in drinking fountains and drugs/vandalism and expanded opportunities for underserved youth.

I volunteer in the community. Got elected: Parkdale Elementary PTA President and as a Director of the Pacific Northwest Ski Assn.

I got appointed: Board of Directors Mt Hood Town Hall, Treasurer of the Parkdale Specialists, and currently, Hood River Democrats PCP#11.

Having been part of a mountain rescue organization, I learned to have my bag packed ready to go at a moments notice. I have answered the phone at 4 am and headed out in the dark to search for lost climbers.

This is our last, best chance to return any semblance of sanity to Washington and actual representation for the working class back to District 2.

These are times like no others. The phone is ringing. It’s 4 am.
